Solid Gold is a dog and cat food brand owned by H&H Group, a Hong Kong-listed health and nutrition company. The brand calls itself America's first holistic pet food brand and says its recipes focus on gut health. Sissy Harrington McGill founded Solid Gold in 1974, and Hund-N-Flocken was its first recipe. H&H Group bought the privately owned brand in 2020 for an enterprise value of $163 million. Worth Knowing

Solid Gold says its only recall was in 2012, when it voluntarily recalled one batch of WolfKing and one batch of WolfCub dry dog food during that year's industry-wide salmonella recalls. The company says neither batch tested positive for salmonella. Solid Gold also says it is a brand of H&H Group, which it describes as a certified B Corp. 4
