Who Makes It

Tiki Dog is the dog food line of Tiki Pets, which also makes Tiki Cat, and is owned by General Mills. Petco describes the line as focused on small dogs, and it includes wet food, dry food under the Aloha Petites name, treats and meal toppers. The company says every recipe has real meat, poultry or fish as the first ingredient. 1, 2, 3

Where It Is Made

Tiki Pets' FAQ says its wet diets are made in Thailand on human-grade canning lines. Retailer listings show the Tiki Dog Tummy Topper as a product of Thailand. The company does not publicly say which manufacturers make its food. 4, 5

History

Christine and Robert Hackett founded Petropics, the original maker of Tiki Cat and Tiki Dog, in San Luis Obispo, California in 2005. Petropics merged with Cloud Star in a deal announced in December 2014 to form Whitebridge Pet Brands, which was backed by Frontenac. The Belgian family investment firm NXMH bought it in 2021. General Mills bought the Tiki Pets and Cloud Star business from NXMH for $1.45 billion, and the deal closed on December 18, 2024. 6, 7, 1

Worth Knowing

In 2019 Tiki Pets launched Tiki Dog Raw, a frozen line in chicken, duck and beef recipes with bone broth that is high-pressure processed for food safety. Petful reports no Tiki recalls on record. 8, 9
