Who Makes It

Against the Grain is a grain-free dog and cat food brand created by twin siblings Chelsea and Brett Sher, whose family owns Evanger's Dog and Cat Food Company. History

The Sher family bought Evanger's, a pet food company that dates back to 1935, in 2002. Chelsea and Brett Sher co-founded Against the Grain in 2015. The brand is now marketed as part of the Evanger's Family of Brands, along with Evanger's and OrgaNOMics. ^{6, 7}

Worth Knowing

In February 2017, Against the Grain recalled a lot of its 12 oz canned Pulled Beef with Gravy Dinner for Dogs because it might contain pentobarbital, and in March 2017 it expanded the recall to more lots. The recall came during the FDA's investigation into pentobarbital in Evanger's Hunk of Beef canned dog food. The company said it had received no complaints about the recalled lot. ^{8, 4, 9}
