Who Makes It
Caru Pet Food Company is a family-owned business run by co-founders Adrian and Pamela Pettyan. It makes stews, bone broths, lickable smoothies and treats for dogs and cats under the Caru Classics and Daily Dish lines. The company says its products are made with 100% human-grade ingredients. 1, 2, 3
Where It Is Made
The company says its products are made in the United States, except Daily Dish Smoothies, which are made in Thailand. It says its stews, baked treats and broths are made in USDA-approved and inspected facilities. Its stews and broths are packed in Tetra Pak cartons. 1, 4
History
The Pettyans, two Canadians, started Karu's Canine Cuisine in 2010 and founded Caru Pet Food in 2014. They say a homemade diet helped their Golden Retriever, Karu, with chronic ear infections. The company is based in Vero Beach, Florida. 1, 3, 5
Worth Knowing
In July 2023 Caru committed to source chicken from higher-welfare farms by June 1, 2025. It planned to seek certification recognized by the ASPCA's Shop With Your Heart program, starting with its Daily Dish Chicken Stew for Dogs. 6
