Who Makes It

Dave's Pet Food, LLC is a family-owned company in Agawam, Massachusetts that makes wet and dry dog and cat food and treats. Its founder and CEO is Dave Ratner. The company says its goal is to offer premium nutrition at affordable prices. 1, 2, 3

Where It Is Made

The company does not publicly name its manufacturer. One third-party review says Dave's foods are made by an unnamed manufacturing partner in South Dakota, New Jersey, Canada and Thailand. 4

History

Dave Ratner runs the Dave's Soda and Pet City stores in Massachusetts, and the Dave's Pet Food brand dates to 2001. In October 2023 the company introduced its first major rebrand in 22 years, with a new logo, labels and website, and rolled the new packaging out through 2024. In August 2026 it launched shelf-stable Homestyle dog meal pouches made with goat milk at SUPERZOO 2026. 1, 2, 5

Worth Knowing

In June 2018 Dave's voluntarily recalled one lot (548 cases) of its 13 oz 95% Premium Beef canned dog food because it might contain elevated levels of beef thyroid hormone. The recall followed a complaint about four dogs with abnormal thyroid test results, and the FDA has since terminated it. 3
