Where It Is Made

When Post bought the brand in 2023, the deal included company-owned pet food plants in Lawrence, Kansas, and Meadville, Pennsylvania, plus a manufacturing and distribution site in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania. Wikipedia says the Lawrence plant makes Kibbles 'n Bits. The brand says its food is made in the USA with globally sourced ingredients. 4, 3, 5

History

Quaker Oats launched Kibbles 'n Bits in 1981 as a dual-texture dog food. Heinz bought it in 1995, and the brand later passed to Del Monte Foods (renamed Big Heart Pet Brands), which J.M. Smucker bought in 2015. Post Holdings bought the brand from Smucker as part of a $1.2 billion pet food deal that closed on April 28, 2023. 3, 6

Worth Knowing

In February 2018, J.M. Smucker voluntarily recalled several Kibbles 'n Bits canned wet foods and variety packs after low levels of pentobarbital were found in them. Smucker traced the problem to one supplier and one minor ingredient at a single plant. The brand's current lineup is dry food only. 7, 3
