Dried plain beet pulp is the fibrous remainder of sugar beets after sugar extraction, dried without molasses added back. Dogs' gut bacteria ferment part of it. It changes stool texture, but a dog trial found softer stools than with other fiber sources.

Sugar factories extract sweet juice from beet roots and have wet, fibrous pulp left over. Pressing and drying make that pulp easier to store and ship. Plain pulp has no molasses added back.4,5

Find beet pulp in the ingredient list, then check the food's guaranteed crude fiber and nutritional adequacy statement. List position gives relative weight, not the percentage. Judge the finished food by your dog's stools and tolerance, rather than a promise that beet pulp always firms stools.
