Water
What it is
Plain water, used to make the recipe mixable and, in wet food, to fill the can.
Other ways this ingredient gets described
- Is of course, nominal from a nutrition standpoint. Water is typically the most prominent ingredient in canned pet foods, so its presence in the number one spot is no surprise.
- Has presumably been added to increase the liquid proportion of this formula and give it a more stew-like appearance.
Potential benefits for dogs
Carries no nutrients itself, but it is what allows wet food to be canned and what keeps a dog hydrated. In dry food it is largely driven off during cooking.
