Pedigree adds Vitamin GoodBites to select adult dry dog food recipes

Pedigree has reformulated select adult dry foods with new vitamin-containing kibble pieces and updated packaging.

What changed

Pedigree has reformulated its classic Adult Dry Food to include Vitamin GoodBites, plus-shaped pieces mixed into the kibble. The brand announced the change on August 11, and Pet Food Processing reported it on August 17. Pedigree says the updated food is available at major retailers in stores and online.

This is a change to adult dry dog food, not an announcement about every Pedigree product. Pedigree’s website says select adult dry recipes contain the new pieces. It lists roasted chicken and vegetable and grilled steak and vegetable among the adult dry foods on its Goodness Promise page. Current retailer listings also describe Vitamin GoodBites in those flavors.

What is new in the bowl

The clearest visible difference is the added plus-shaped kibble. Pedigree says those pieces contain vitamin C and biotin, along with elevated levels of other essential vitamins. A current Target ingredient listing for the grilled steak and vegetable recipe includes vitamin C and biotin. The announcement does not give a before-and-after nutrient comparison for each recipe, so the size of any change in the food’s overall vitamin levels is unclear.

Pedigree calls the reformulation part of its six-health-essentials promise. The brand says the adult formulas support digestion, immunity, skin and coat, heart, bones and dental care. Those are Pedigree’s claims about everyday nutrition, not evidence that the food treats a health condition.

What it means for Pedigree owners

If your dog eats one of Pedigree’s classic adult dry recipes, a familiar flavor name may now appear on a bag with a different formula. The brand says to look for a plus sign on the updated package. Because Pedigree says the change applies to select recipes, that symbol and the label matter more than the brand name alone.

Our reviews cover Pedigree foods, but we have not reviewed a reformulated bag for this story. Owners comparing it with a current bag should use the exact flavor and package in hand. Retailer listings can show different package versions, so an online description may not match the bag delivered or stocked locally.

What to check on the bag

Look for the plus sign and Vitamin GoodBites name, then read the ingredient list, guaranteed analysis, calorie information and feeding directions. Compare those details with your current bag, especially if you track your dog’s portions or avoid a particular ingredient. Also check that the nutritional adequacy statement matches your dog’s life stage: this announcement concerns adult food.

If the bag’s formula differs from the one your dog has been eating, follow its feeding directions and introduce the change gradually. Watch how your dog responds. The package label is the most direct way to confirm which version you have.
