Annamaet launches its first freeze-dried raw dog food line with three recipes

What happened

Annamaet Petfoods, the family-owned Pennsylvania brand best known for its kibble, has launched a freeze-dried raw line for dogs. The company announced it in a post on its own newsroom dated October 1, 2026, titled "It's Here! Annamaet Freeze-Dried Raw is now available!" Freeze-dried raw now has its own section on the brand's website, alongside its kibble, treats and supplements.

The brand says the recipes were "Developed with a board-certified veterinary nutritionist" and are "gently freeze-dried and never cooked." It does not name the nutritionist.

The three recipes

Turkey & Pumpkin (called Turkey Freeze Dried Raw on its product page) starts with turkey, turkey with ground bones, turkey heart and turkey liver. It also contains sweet potato, oat flour, pumpkin and pumpkin seeds. The brand presents it as a choice for dogs with sensitive skin or digestion. That is the brand's positioning, not something the label shows.

Chicken & Sweet Potato starts with chicken, chicken with ground bones, chicken breast, chicken heart and chicken liver, then sweet potato, carrots, chicken eggs and flaxseed.

Surf & Turf mixes beef, beef heart, whitefish, beef liver and ground beef bones with sweet potato, tapioca, salmon, flaxseed, blueberries and cranberries. The brand describes the beef as grass-fed and the fish as wild-caught.

What is different from Annamaet kibble

The main change is the format. The brand says these foods can be served "as a complete meal, rehydrated or dry, sprinkled over your dog's regular food as a nutritious topper, or offered as a high-value training treat." All three labels say they are formulated to meet AAFCO Dog Food Nutrient Profiles for All Life Stages, including the growth of large size dogs (70 lb or more as an adult).

These are rich foods. The guaranteed analysis lists minimum crude protein of 36% to 40% and minimum crude fat of 23% to 30%, with moisture no higher than 7%. The listed calories are 332 kcal per cup for Chicken & Sweet Potato, 350 for Surf & Turf and 363 for Turkey & Pumpkin. Each comes in 3 oz and 16 oz bags.

Annamaet has not posted prices on these pages, and we could not confirm which retailers carry the line yet. Availability may vary by store for now.

What it means if you feed Annamaet

If your dog already eats Annamaet kibble, this gives you a raw option from the same company that also works as a topper. Topping kibble with something this calorie-dense adds up quickly, so you will probably need to cut back the kibble to keep your dog's weight steady. Each bag has a feeding chart based on body weight.

Our reviews cover 17 Annamaet foods, but we have not reviewed these three freeze-dried recipes yet.

What to check on the bag

Read the full ingredient list, not just the recipe name. Each recipe has more than one protein: the turkey and chicken formulas both contain flaxseed, Chicken & Sweet Potato contains eggs, and Surf & Turf has both beef and fish. This matters if your dog has a known food sensitivity. Turkey & Pumpkin contains oat flour and Surf & Turf contains tapioca, while the chicken recipe has neither.

Check the AAFCO statement and calorie line on the bag you buy. Since the food is raw and never cooked, also follow the handling directions printed on the package.
