Who Makes It
Halo is a natural pet food brand sold by Halo, Purely for Pets, Inc., which is wholly owned by SRX Global Inc. (formerly SRx Health Solutions and before that Better Choice Company), traded on NYSE American as SRXH. The brand sells dry kibble, wet food, freeze-dried raw products, treats and supplements for dogs and cats, including the Halo Holistic and Halo Elevate lines. The company says its recipes use whole meat, poultry or fish rather than meat meal, along with non-GMO ingredients. 1, 2
Where It Is Made
Halo does not run its own plants. Its SEC filings say its product comes from co-manufacturers. In June 2023, Alphia, a US custom pet food maker with six US facilities, became the manufacturer for Halo pet food under a long-term partnership. 1, 3
History
Andi Brown founded Halo in 1986, and Spot's Stew, named after Brown's cat, was one of its first products. Better Choice Company agreed to buy Halo in October 2019 and closed the deal that December. In April 2025, Better Choice combined with SRx Health, renamed itself SRx Health Solutions, and sold Halo's Asian business. In June 2026 the company became SRX Global Inc. 4
Worth Knowing
Halo's one reported recall was a voluntary 2015 recall of Spot's Stew Sensitive Cat Turkey kibble because of mold, and no Halo dog food recall has been reported. Talk show host Ellen DeGeneres bought a stake in the brand in 2008. 4, 5
