Open Farm was founded in 2014 in Toronto by Jacqueline Prehogan, Isaac Langleben and Derek Beigleman. General Atlantic led an $80 million growth equity round in January 2021, and the company has confidentially filed for an initial public offering, which it delayed to fall 2026. In June 2026 its products launched in nearly 1,700 PetSmart stores in the US and Canada. 3

Worth Knowing

Open Farm announced B Corp certification in July 2024. In December 2024 it voluntarily withdrew select lots of freeze-dried raw dog food and a RawMix recipe after small pieces of soft plastic film from ingredient liners were found. The company called this a market removal rather than a recall and said no injuries were reported. 7, 8
