Seven Solid Gold recipes absent or replaced in current range

What we found

In our September 28 check of Solid Gold's current range, six recipes we have reviewed were no longer listed on the brand's site. They were Bone Broth Stew with Chicken & Hearty Vegetables Dog Food Topper; MMillennia Everyday Nutrition Beef & Brown Rice Recipe Dry Dog Food; Mighty Mini Toy & Small Breed Turkey & Hearty Vegetable Recipe Dry Dog Food; NutrientBoost Hund-N-Flocken Powered By Plasma Chicken, Brown Rice & Pearled Barley Recipe Dry Dog Food; Star Chaser Everyday Nutrition Chicken & Brown Rice Recipe Dry Dog Food; and Sunday Sunrise Everyday Nutrition Lamb, Sweet Potato & Pea Recipe Dry Dog Food.

Solid Gold says on its site that it is discontinuing a small number of recipes, but that notice does not name these six. Their absence from the current range does not establish when production stopped or whether stores still have stock. We have not found a brand statement confirming that each of the six is discontinued.

Buck Wild has a newer listing

The seventh recipe is Buck Wild Sensitive Stomach with Venison, Potato & Pumpkin Dry Dog Food. Chewy marks an older Buck Wild listing as replaced and directs shoppers to a new version. Solid Gold currently lists a NutrientBoost Buck Wild Sensitive Stomach dry food for adult dogs with venison.

The current brand ingredient panel starts with venison, turkey meal, ocean fish meal and potatoes. It also lists chicken fat and animal plasma. The name on a newer bag may look familiar, but owners should compare its full label with the bag they have been feeding. We cannot establish from these listings exactly which ingredients changed between versions.

What this means for owners

If one of these foods is part of your dog's routine, check the full recipe name before assuming another Solid Gold product is the same food. That matters especially for the chicken Hund-N-Flocken recipe: Solid Gold currently lists other Hund-N-Flocken foods, including lamb dry food. A shared product name does not mean the protein or ingredient list matches.

Our review pages for all seven named recipes list alternatives to compare. Retailer stock can differ from the brand's current range, so a recipe missing from Solid Gold's site may still appear elsewhere. Availability at any particular store is unclear.

What to check on the bag

Read the exact recipe name, first ingredients, life stage statement, calorie information and feeding directions on the bag in hand. For Buck Wild, check the entire ingredient panel if your dog needs to avoid a particular ingredient. For the bone broth stew, check whether a product is labeled as a topper or a complete food before using it as a meal.

If you change foods, use the feeding directions for the new product rather than carrying over the old portion size. Solid Gold advises a gradual change over seven to ten days. Keep the old bag or a clear photo of its label while comparing recipes.
